The Economy isn’t men in suites in big glass building using big economic words. It’s you and me and our daily decisions and how we choose to live. These films were created in conjunction with the news and entertainment website ECONOMY. Their aim to 'make economics less confusing’. It makes sense of the dry stuff in the financial press, brings clarity to the economics of current news stories and finds economics in popular culture.

It began out of a creative spark between the partnership of the producers of Boom Bust Boom and Rethinking Economics. Rethinking Economics is an international network of students, academics and professionals building a better economics in society and the classroom. The charity is growing momentum and becoming a wonderful resource for audiences all over the world.

Our brief was to create content to educate and explain the economy. How does it work? Do we need it? How are we part of it? Always balancing a public viewpoint using the voice of the website itself to help the viewer along their educational pathway. Fitting under the subjects like 'Your Economy' and 'Your Government’. Always campaigning for understandable economics.

Our Solution began with the collaborative creation of the website economy.org. We were a silent partner of the initiative which has grown into a useful educational resource. Being involved in branding and direction from an early stage opened the doors to create bespoke entertainment, mixing animation and audience perspective. The main demographic of 18 - 35 year olds allowed us to use humour and be original with content creation, drawing on a variety of techniques to provoke audiences thoughts and purpose.

Our Outcome was to successfully start a conversation with our audience about economics and the role it plays in each of our lives. Our economic choices are growing daily wherever we are in the world and we need help in making these decisions and understanding who they effect. These films are created to educate us all and we hope to continue making more of them in the future.
